Focus on the Good

Much of what we choose to focus on is triggered by what we think about. The Apostle Paul talks about the importance of this concept. Our thoughts have the power either to drag us down to an emotional and spiritual valley of death, or to lift us high to a mountaintop. As a foundational rule, focusing on the negatives will make it difficult for us to see the positives.

From Series: "Focus"

In life, there are many different things competing for our attention. If we are not careful, we will lose focus of the things that really matter most. God calls us to focus on four different things; the good, Christ, our future and our mission. The joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction you have been desiring will require action on your part. Are you ready to let God realign your focus to increase your faith?

He Threw a Party

Sometimes the biggest chasm that exists is between family members. God teaches us about his bridge building mentality through Jesus’ telling of the prodigal son. A boy goes off and wastes all his father gives him. At rock bottom, he decides to come home. Rather than his father being angry or frustrated, he throws a party. We should be eager to offer grace to those with whom we have a broken relationship and when it is restored, we should celebrate. Just like the father whose son was lost but came home to be found again.

Scripture References: Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6, Luke 15:11-32

From Series: "Bridge Builders"

There is a chasm that exists between people. It is a deep divide that keeps us from being in relationship with one another. Many people seek ways to increase the expanse rather than seeking ways to close the gap. We divide over all kinds of things. We split over politics, race, religion and values just to name a few. Rather than embrace the schisms, we can be bridge builders. We can be the kind of people who fight for unity and love others because of our connection with and example of Jesus Christ.
